Home and Away: Dead body washes up in Summer Bay

Summer Bay has managed to go a year-and-a-half without a death, which is a pretty good record for the idyllic town unofficially crowned most dangerous place in the world.

While Lewis was briefly able to render Christian aka Budget McDreamy as dead, he’s fully alive again which makes the hospital siege during the 2019 finale when dead Robbo died, the last fatality.

But in the space of 30 minutes on Monday night a new cop has arrived, Justin is behind bars and a body is found in the bay that “police are saying it’s a woman”.

For anyone doing a bit of snooping around as I have, a couple of articles revealed that the body is either Leah, Justin, Mackenzie or Susie.

This sort of rules out Justin as the victim because we only laid eyes on him very recently and there would have to be a lot of untoward stuff occurring to assume that his rather tall and solid figure could be female. It’s possible, but it seems unlikely given the timeframe.

It can’t be Leah because she’s there when the fisherman yell for help.

But Susie hasn’t been featured in weeks and lots of people would probably like to see her dead, and Mac is still missing and hasn’t even done payroll for her staff which is very suss.

Things pick up with Justin fleeing from the scene of the crime after bashing Stephen, the man from the internet, as be stumbles along the beach in some sort of dazed and confused manner.

“Is that your blood?” Anna asks.

But Justin can’t really handle words at the moment and just mumbles some incoherent stuff.

I honestly thought we’d have a visit from the dreaded Jas cam again, but thankfully we were spared the trauma.

Over at the Surf Club, Tane is showing off his arms in his SBF stringlet, when Stephen also stumbles along before collapsing to the floor.

“Someone’s been bashed,” Tane says to the operator on the phone referring to “Stephen something?”

“They will find the thugs that did this,” John proclaims at Stephen Something’s hospital bedside.

“It wasn’t thugs, it was Justin.”

Tori, who is Justin’s sister, and just so happens to be the doctor treating Stephen Something is shocked.

“That’s impossible,” John says.

“It was like he had lost him mind,” Stephen Something responds.

Indeed Justin has lost his mind. He gets home and attempts to get rid of the evidence with a bit of soap when there’s a knock on the door.

It’s the new hot cop Senior Constable Cash Newman and some extra dressed as a cop.

The hair people really have the cop do down pat. I’m staring to think it’s a toupee that does the rounds.

Naturally I’m filled with glee at the sight of Justin locked in a cell. But I have less patience than Cash who “knowns withdrawal when I see it” lets Tori see her brother.

“You could have killed Stephen,” Tori says to her brother.

“But you didn’t see them together he was all over her,” Justin replies.

Then he blames not being able to “think straight” on Tori for “reducing his medication”. It’s very typical Justin.

Tori is also keen to see Justin learn his lesson and doesn’t bail him out.

“Maybe a night in here will make you realise what you’ve done,” she says.

Here’s what we know about Cash: nothing so far apart from being a “country boy”, but that’s not unusual.

Cops don’t have the best luck in Summer Bay, they either die an untimely death or get run out of town but Nicholas Cartwright who plays Cash told me last week “I’m hoping he survives”.

In other news Tane and Ziggy have hit the “darl” stage of their relationship.

“All good, thanks darl,” Tane says.

“If anything ever happened to you, I’d never forgive myself,” Tane says warning Ziggy of the danger she is in working for Justin.

It’s the next morning, Justin is resealed for jail and Stephen Something is discharged of hospital and tells Leah he’s going to take a “step back”.

Stephen has a tiny gash on his head which is disproportionate to the gravity of the situation.

The makeup artist must have ran out of time after tatting up Dean’s body for his very brief appearance in a towel when news of the body gets around town.

“Hey! Helllppp there’s a body, call the police.”
