An Albany woman has earned herself a court order after stabbing her friend in the chest with a pair of scissors while intoxicated.

Beronia Narkle was sentenced in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday for unlawful wounding and criminal damage or destruction.

The 21-year-old stabbed a friend in the chest with a pair of scissors on September 21 after she was asked to leave the Lockyer address because of her intoxication and bad behaviour.

Narkle also smashed a window, causing $500 in damage.

Narkle pleaded guilty to the charges on October 3.

The victim drove himself to Albany Health Campus where he was treated for a minor puncture wound, about 1cm-2cm deep and requiring sutures.

Narkle’s defence lawyer Georgia Herford said her client, who is a “shy and anxious person”, acknowledged the “quite serious” offending.

Ms Herford said Narkle was intoxicated to the point of not remembering the wounding, where she got the scissors from or why she had them.

She said her client was “deeply ashamed and embarrassed” of her actions towards her friend and asked for an intensive supervision order.

Magistrate Erin O’Donnell accepted Ms Herford’s statement that the offending was out of character for Narkle but while “superficial” the wound was still serious.

Narkle was placed on an eight-month intensive supervision order with program requirements.
