Former Albany resident and 2024 Southern Smash No.2 pick Viv Paver is hosting a summer cricket clinic during this year’s premier regional T20 tournament in Albany for all children between ages 10-16.

Partnering fellow high-performance coaches Jack Webster and Cam Tredgett, Paver will teach young aspiring Great Southern cricketers the art of power hitting and 360-degree scoring to help youngsters develop their short-form batting.

They will also run a variety of fielding drills as part of the session.

The two-hour clinic is on Sunday at 8:30am at the North Road cricket nets and costs $45 and players can register online with spots in the clinic limited.

The Smash has also announced the two under-21 side’s set to square off and all fixtures have been posted for the entire three-day tournament.

The under-21s game will again feature as a curtain raiser for the event with Cricket Great Southern Allstars locking horns with MM Electrical Mavericks in their first of three games at Turf East on Saturday, December 28 at 3.30pm.

They will then play back-to-back games on Sunday with the first starting at 9am on Turf South before the potential decider on Turf East at 3.30pm.

The Allstars will be skippered by Royals all-rounder Ryley Valli while rising Collingwood Park young gun Jed Schwarzbach will lead the Mavericks.

The first senior Smash games begin at noon on Sunday, December 29 with Retravision Warriors playing Albany Finance Fury and Arc Infrastructure Aces taking on Camtrans Bulldogs.

Round two at 3pm will have the Fury grapple the Bulldogs while the Warriors play the Aces.

The third and last round starts on Monday, December 30 at 11am and Fury square off with Aces and Bulldogs go up against the Warriors before the top two face off in the decider on Turf North at 3.30pm.

The inaugural women’s competition in the Southern Smash will be played over three games between AFGRI Albany Southern Scorpions and Rio Tinto Bunbury & Districts.
