A triumvirate of local artists are prepping for a major exhibition that will take over the Margaret River Heart/Nala Bardip Mia from next weekend until late March.

Opening on Wednesday, the Between the Capes exhibition sees artists Jacqui Brown, Jamie Roper and Shelley McNab combine forces for a rich display of new paintings and ceramics inspired by the South West coastline.

Seasaltware Ceramics operator McNab told the Times she had produced a 66-piece ceramic bowl and vase installation just for the exhibition.

“This is the biggest piece I have ever made,” she said.

“Jacqui is launching a series using resin, which is a new approach for her. It’s awesome to see her colours and style through a new lens.

“Jamie’s new landscape paintings will take us on a journey as we join in adventures through the Capes region.

“Look for the local landmarks and enjoy a totally new colour palette as Jamie explores the landscape at night.”

McNab said her own new Surfing the Capes series was a multiple-piece ceramic installation designed to celebrate “the limestone coast, hot summer days and salty sea spray”.

The Between the Capes showcase will include a mammoth 3m canvas surf map created by Grant Preller from Bombora Surf Maps which shows all of the breaks between the region’s two lighthouses.

Other surf maps in smaller sizes would also be available for sale along with artworks featured.

The exhibition finishes on March 18.
