Garry Andrew Saville: Man accused of FDV killing has charge upgraded to murder, immediately pleads not guilty

A 60-year-old man accused of killing his partner has had his charge upgraded from manslaughter to murder and immediately pleaded not guilty. Garry Andrew Saville faced Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via videolink from Hakea Prison on Wednesday, when his lawyer indicated he would fight the allegation even before the details were read out. Mr Saville stands accused of fatally injuring Bronnwyn Anne O’Gorman at Chidlow on April 7 last year. She died on May 10 at Royal Perth Hospital after five weeks in the intensive care unit. According to social media posts and websites tracking family and domestic violence deaths in Australia, she was aged 50 and had no family in WA. Mr Saville will make his first appearance in the Supreme Court of WA on May 5. Also on Wednesday, the court was told the State intended to discontinue an unrelated charge of aggravated assault but Mr Saville had already pleaded guilty in March 2024. The State then discontinued another separate charge of “failed duty to provide necessaries of life”. He was remanded in custody.
