Dutch police have detained three suspects in connection with deadly explosions that destroyed an apartment block over the weekend.

The suspects may have been involved in the twin blasts that killed six people in The Hague, police said on Tuesday, adding that several vehicles have been confiscated as part of the investigation.

The police did not provide any further background on the individuals taken into custody.

The exact cause of the incident is still unclear but the public prosecutor's office has said there is evidence of criminal motives.

Among the six killed on Saturday morning were three members of a family: a father, mother and their 17-year-old daughter.
