As the festive season draws near, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our Geraldton community a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Christmas is a time to pause, reflect and celebrate the many blessings in our lives. It’s also a time to come together as a community, to reconnect with loved ones and family, reflect on our faith and to share with each other in the spirit of giving and love. Whether it’s attending a Christmas service, spending time with family, or reaching out to someone who might be doing it tough, this season reminds us of the importance of compassion, sacrifice and togetherness. I’m immensely proud to call Geraldton home. This year has brought its share of challenges, but it’s also highlighted the resilience, generosity and strength of our community. From our hardworking small business owners to our tireless community volunteers and service personnel, everyone plays an invaluable role in making Geraldton the vibrant and welcoming place it is. As we enjoy the festivities, like the fantastic Carols in the Park the other night, or the hugely-attended Christmas markets, let’s not forget those who may be struggling or feeling lonely this Christmas, and the reason for the season. Whether it’s offering a warm meal, a friendly chat, or lending a hand to a neighbour in need, acts of kindness can make a big difference. Looking ahead, I remain committed to advocating for the needs of our region and ensuring that Geraldton continues to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
