Liberals promise bus from Kalbarri to Geraldton if successful at 2025 election

The Liberals have promised a bus service from Kalbarri to Geraldton as part of a $150,000 election pledge.

The service would help residents in the coastal town who are unable to drive to take them to the city, 155km away.

According to the party, people would be able to have easier access to essential services including medical appointments and shopping.

Liberal candidate for Geraldton Tim Milnes said the announcement came following discussions with community members.

“We listened to the community and understood the importance of reliable transport options for improving access and making day-to-day life more convenient,” he said.

“This is a step towards better supporting our regional communities and ensuring everyone has the opportunities they need.”

According to Mr Milnes, the project would be set up as a trial to determine numbers before moving forward.

“A major part of our policy is cutting red tape, and pushing for a smaller government and individual freedom,” he said.

“Providing transport options for people who live in Kalbarri is about continued social participation, particularly as people there age and can’t drive themselves.

“It also redirects a tiny proportion of what is spent of our tax dollars with a metro-centric and wasteful Labor party to regional services like this where they’re needed.”
