Michael Christopher Rhys Ah-Kim: Man pleads guilty on six charges related to burglary in Geraldton

A Geraldton man has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $2000 worth of goods across Geraldton from earlier this month. Michael Christopher Rhys Ah-Kim faced Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday on six charges relating to burglaries across Geraldton and Wonthella from October 31 to November 13. He pleaded guilty to stealing handheld radios from Mach 1 Auto One in Wonthella on November 3, and stealing a backpack from the ABC office on Marine Terrace on November 13. The 43-year-old also pleaded guilty to attempted burglary at Quantum Surveys in Geraldton on October 31, as well as Integrated ICT in Geraldton on November 13. Police did not refuse bail, provided a curfew was put in place. Ah-Kim’s defence counsel indicated he was capable of complying with bail, and that a curfew would not cause any difficulties. However, they sought an adjournment for sentencing to receive a pre-sentencing report, as well as to get advice on entering him into an alcohol and drug diversion program. Magistrate Catherine Crawford granted bail with the provision he must reside at his address in Rangeway, and that he must obey a curfew from 7pm to 6am, and present himself upon the request of police. Ah-Kim is due back in court on January 9 next year for sentencing.
