Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell makes extraordinary premiership claim

Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell has boldly claimed the club will win two NRL and NRLW premierships by 2030, as part of the club releasing its new strategic road map.

The Titans, who have also released a new club logo, reached the finals this season, losing in heartbreaking fashion to the Sydney Roosters in the elimination final.

While the club has gone from strength-to-strength since coach Justin Holbrook arrived at the club in 2019, the Titans have been starved of success since they joined the NRL in 2007.

But with young local stars such as Jayden Campbell, AJ Brimson and David Fifita leading the charge, the Titans could become a force to be reckoned with in coming years.

So much so, Mitchell had no problem declaring the Provan-Summons trophy would find a home in Surfers Paradise before the decade is over.

“As temporary custodians, during an exciting period of transition, we believe it is time to outline the future direction of the club through a collective, fully aligned vision and strategic road map to 2030,” Mitchell wrote in the club’s road map document.

“The Building Titans plan will deliver NRL and NRLW Premierships, making our communities proud, inspiring them with energy and uniting them through hard-earnt success.”

The Titans’ NRLW team will make its first appearance in the competition in 2022 and will boast plenty of star power.

The club has secured Brittany Breayley-Nati, who was voted the best player in the competition in 2018, as well as Karina Brown, one of the most capped players in women’s rugby league.

Gold Coast’s NRL side has already gone to work in shaping its roster for 2022, signing former Eels utility man Will Smith to a two-year deal last week.

The addition of Smith adds experience to a squad brimming with young talent signed long-term, including star forward Moeaki Fotuaika until the end of 2024.
