Harvey-Benger’s fourth-grade side advanced to the second week of the finals in dominant fashion on Saturday, dismantling Eaton by nine wickets after bowling them out for just 19.

In what would prove a good toss to lose, Harvey-Benger began in the field at the Eaton Sports Ground on an overcast and windy morning.

It took just three balls for talismanic opening bowler David Cooper to strike, clean bowling Mick Sewell without scoring.

Cooper was not finished there, taking another two wickets while proving unplayable and finishing with figures of 3-3 from eight overs, including five maidens, after a brilliant display of swing bowling.

The whole Harvey-Benger team were on song with the ball, with Kael Lottering (0-6 from five overs) and Julian Frederiksen (2-4 from 3.4 overs) also keeping things tight as the visitors turned the screws.

But it was the experienced Mark Moody who proved the ultimate destroyer.

Playing his first season with Harvey-Benger, the wily veteran took the risk in pitching the ball up but was rewarded with catches taken behind the wicket.

Moody would end up with the match ball, taking five wickets for just six runs from his six overs.

It was a day where the whole team contributed in the field, stopping every ball that came their way and catching exceptionally.

Eaton could never get going in their batting innings losing wickets so regularly, and incredibly were bowled out for just 19 in 22.4 overs.

It was then a relatively straightforward chase for Harvey-Benger, with Tyler Bozanich (12 not out) continuing his strong late season form.

Captain Rowan Morrison (three not out) hit the winning runs, nudging the ball into the covers to secure a comprehensive victory.

Harvey-Benger will travel to Dalyellup this Saturday for the preliminary final against a Dalyellup team reeling from their own batting collapse, having been rolled for just 24 runs.

The winner will face Rising Stars in the grand final.
