Harvey region welcomes RV-friendly recognition for two town centres

The Shire of Harvey has welcomed recognition two of its biggest communities are RV-friendly towns.

The towns of Harvey and Brunswick were awarded the accolade by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia in November, after catching their interest with the launch of their 12-month short-stay parking bay trial.

The successful trial saw the shire launch full short-stay sites earlier this year in Brunswick, Harvey and Yarloop — a major part of their new RV-friendly recognition.

Shire president Michelle Campbell said having the towns recognised by the CMCA would put thousands of eyes on the region.

“The CMCA boasts more than 70,000 members and is a trusted national source for RV travel information,” she said.

“Now we are listed on their RV Friendly Map, celebrated on their website and we’ll be covered in their monthly magazine.”

Cr Campbell said the advantages to the community would be great, with the RV community known to spend an average of $100 a day when travelling though towns.

“We are positioned to take full advantage of this free advertising and get visitors buying local,” she said.

The shire has been provided with new signage to promote their RV friendly status.

Harvey and Brunswick recreation grounds are two major sites the shire is hoping to draw more visitors to.

The shire also has a short-stay site at the Yarloop Recreation Ground, but does not include any dump points for travellers.
