The father-son duo of Paul and Dylan Clarke’s strong ties with Kalgoorlie across many years have been further strengthened after Dylan’s appointment as captain for the 2025 Goldfields Football League season.

Co-captain in 2024, Clarke chalked-up his 100th game last year and was named at half-forward in the GFL’s team of the year.

He was also last season among four GFL players who lined up for WA Country against South Australia at Adelaide Oval.

Paul Clarke is heading into his sixth season as the Roos’ league assistant coach, alongside head coach Rick Butterfield.

Kalgoorlie officials praised Paul Clarke’s value in a statement online.

“The team wouldn’t know what to do without his on-point banter, and his impact goes far beyond the whiteboard,” it read.

“Last season, his unwavering support for Butters helped rally the troops all the way to a grand final berth.

“Now, the Kanga Army is backing him to help take it one step further.”

Jordan Angus was named vice-captain.

Angus also made last year’s GFL team of the year as the starting ruck, having joined Kalgoorlie before the 2023 season as a highly touted replacement for retiring dual Mitchell medallist and triple premiership player Alex Stewart.
