Boulder recruit Tom Gillett has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2023 Dick Robinson Medal after his nine goals on Saturday powered the side’s big win over Kambalda, 26.18 (174) to 0.3 (3), to compete round seven in the Goldfields Football League.

The Tigers, who emerged with nine goal kickers, piled on 10.1 to quarter-time to put the result beyond reach.

Gillett’s performance took his season tally from six games to 30 goals, six adrift of Mines Rovers full-forward Jordan Strahan.

It was Gillett’s biggest haul of the season, following up his eight goals in round two against Kambalda and seven in round four against the Mines Rovers.

Jack Martin’s solid form continued with his five goals last weekend and Shyrone Graham and Alex Paech each booted three.

Martin boasts at least two goals in each of his past five matches, but Boulder took their foot off the pedal in the last term with 3.5.

Ahead of a round-eight clash this Saturday against Kalgoorlie, Boulder emerged injury-free, Jarrod Donaldson starred in his league debut for the club and Paech was awarded the Belt Up football as the game’s best player.

It was an emotional trip to Kambalda West Oval for the Tigers, who wore black arm bands across all grades in honour of popular member Georgie Hogan who died during the week.

“Georgie was a very loyal and passionate supporter of the Tigers over a long period of time,” Boulder president Chris Bowie said.

“She was a lovely woman and anyone who has been involved with Boulder over the years knows just how much work she put into the club.

“Hoges (Georgie’s husband and Boulder life member Simon Hogan) actually popped by the game, which was nice to see.

“Probably the best thing about a footy club, or clubs in general, is that when something bad happens, you don’t have to go through it alone.

“As a club, we’ll all support Hoges in the same way he’s supported the club for many years.”

Boulder lead the standings with five wins — a game and percentage clear of Railways, who have a game in hand.
