Megan Persello is the new queen of local eight ball after last weekend winning a maiden Goldfields Ladies Singles title by beating Paula Winfield in a tense final.

It ended a frustrating run for Persello, who was the tournament runner-up in each of the previous three seasons.

Despite falling short in the final, Winfield was impressive throughout and has been a welcome addition to local women’s ranks.

Making-up the top-four were Brenda White and Sandy Gates.

Meanwhile in local domestic matches played last week, Country Club Cobras and Star and Garter Pirates’ hot starts continued when they both secured wins to remain unbeaten.

Joining them in the winners’ circle were Grand Suns, Workers’ Cue Crew and Gala Warriors.

This Thursday, Cobras’ perfect start to the season will be tested at home by Tower Jokers, who are coming off their first loss, against Pirates.

Gala Warriors will be looking to build on last week’s victory against Main Reef Breakers in a key match-up.

The annual Dax Wasley Singles will be contested in February.
