Man dead after he was trapped under fallen heating system in horror workplace incident in Sydney’s northwest

A man has died after he became trapped under what is believed to be part of a fallen heating systemin a workplace incident in Sydney’s northwest. Emergency services have been on scene at Auld St in Eastwood since about 8.45am Wednesday. Initial reports from police stated a water tank had fallen, however it is now understood the man was trapped under a metal reservoir believed to have been part of a former oil heating system at the home. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, believed to be in his 60s, however he died at the scene. The man is yet to be formally identified. A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed the incident had been referred to SafeWork NSW. Police and safety inspectors are at a house on Auld street in Eastwood after a man died in a workplace accident this morning at approximately 8.50am. Emergency services arrived to find a man trapped under a tank, and despite the efforts of paramedics the man dies at the scene. A SafeWork NSW spokeswoman said inspectors were looking into the incident. “SafeWork NSW has been notified of workplace incident in Eastwood on Wednesday 8 January,” the spokeswoman said. “SafeWork NSW Inspectors are attending the site and making enquiries. “No further information can be provided at this time.”
