The Geraldton Amateur Swimming Club (GASC) took their best to Mandurah over the March long weekend for the Country Pennants League with the club claiming a bag of medals for their efforts.

GASC, led by head coach Mary Lynas, took a talented group of 32 swimmers, delivering great results in both the individual and relay events.

The squad collected a bag of medals for the efforts claiming three golds, 15 silvers and 28 bronzes as well as achieving 43 personal best performances over the weekend.

Out of the numerous achievements, one stood clear of the rest — the club finishing fourth overall, resulting in GASC maintaining their position in the A-grade pennant.

Standout performer was senior swimmer Ben Naisbitt who recorded top results across multiple events.

Naisbitt starred in the 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and freestyle with the top six fastest times in each event.

Charlee Fraser and Aiden Desmond were recognised as the Aqua Technic Rising Star Award winners for the Mid West region.

The award recognises young athletes for their determination, dedication and commitment to the sport and was another huge win for the club.

Club secretary Anna Kosch said the meeting was a great opportunity for the club’s athletes.

“The Country Pennants event once again proved to be a fantastic opportunity for regional swimmers to test their skills against top competition from other regional areas in WA including Mandurah, Australind, Bunbury and Albany,” she said.

“GASC looks forward to competing in the 2026 Country Pennants to be held in Karratha but has their more immediate focus set on Junior Long Course State Championships to be held at the High Performance Centre in Perth in April.”
