With the Geraldton Gold Cup just one meet away, trainers and jockeys will be fine-tuning at the Geraldton Turf Club this Saturday.

The race of the day looks to be race six featuring Julia Martin’s Bombay Style and Miff Muffered Moof facing off in the 1925m race.

After a strong win last meet from Bombay Style with Chanel Cooper on board, Martin has stuck with the winning formula hoping to replicate last meet’s heroics.

Cooper, who was selected in her first National Apprentice Race Series all over Australia, has proven herself to be a gun on the back of the right horse.

Stablemate Miff Muffered Moof also features out of barrier six with jockey Kristy Bennett again on board the five-year-old mare. The two have proven to be a winning duo previously at Geraldton and will certainly look to contend come cup day.

Allan Hughes’ Butterflyrock will contend out of barrier five with jockey Madi Derrick.

Fresh off an impressive win in partnership with Tash Faithfull a few weeks ago, Butterflyrock continues to impress as a track talent and will be one to look out for in race six.

Storming out of barrier one will be Tony Scally’s Hard Questions ridden by Chris Nicoll.

The six-year-old gelding’s last win came at the Walkaway Cup, running a superb race for the Scally stable charging home in the final 200m.

Race seven is also a race to keep an eye on.

Scally and jockey Austin Galati team up with Bolta out of barrier 1. After a win last time out at Geraldton with Faithfull riding the four-year-old to perfection, Galati will be looking to replicate its last run.

Gary Sorensen’s Tarentelia also is coming off a fresh win at Geraldton and will more than likely contend Galati and Bolta out of barrier five. On board on Saturday is apprentice jockey Zephen Johnston-Porter who like Cooper was selected for the National Apprentice Race Series.

The Martin stable features again with Stay Astern partnered with Cooper in the 1413m run. Impressing Martin with her previous performances on Bombay Style, Cooper earned herself another crack on Stay Astern looking to turn it on in the last 200m.
