Hope is fading as detectives change their approach in the search for a woman who vanished after leaving a pub in an affluent beachside suburb.

Jeanne Christine D’Arcy, 75, went missing on Wednesday night after she was last seen leaving the Ocean Beach Hotel in Cottesloe at about 11pm.

WA Police are expected to review the situation over night and make decisions on whether patrols would continue on Sunday.

The search was scaled back on Saturday, with aerial resources and mounted patrols halted.

Foot patrols around Cottesloe beach were continued throughout the day and water police maintained a presence along the coast.

Ms D’Arcy had been staying at the Ocean Beach Hotel before she was reported missing by family.

CCTV footage showed her crossing the road outside the venue just after 11pm on Wednesday.

Police expressed serious concern for her welfare after some of her belongings were found on the beach.

Acting Insp. Paul Robinson said police were not ruling anything out, but so far no criminality had been identified.

Ms D’Arcy’s family issued an emotional plea for her safe return on Friday.

Her daughter, Maree, said they were desperate to find her.

“This is very unusual for her. She loves Cottesloe, she loves this area,” she said.

“So if you see her or remember anything about my mum around this area, please come down here or see the police.”

Ms D’Arcy is described as 159cm tall, fair-skinned, medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a floral long sleeve top and slip-on shoes.

Police ask that anyone who has seen her contact 131 444 immediately.
