Mt Lawley: Distressed locals watch on as ten mature trees cut down at site near Guildford Road and East Parade

Taylor RenoufPerthNow

A group of protesters and several local Mt Lawley residents gathered to oppose the clearing of up to 10 mature trees at a site near Guildford Road and East Parade.

Developers are clearing the site to build new social housing, with authorities reportedly claiming some of the trees are riddled with asbestos.

However, locals were left outraged over the decision to remove the trees, saying there has been little to no consultation with them about the removal.
