An international flight has been forced back to Perth when a passenger complained of serious period pains on the way to Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam-bound VietJet flight took off about 10.30am and was in the air for an hour before being turned around.

Flight VJC92 landed back in Perth at 12.30pm.

It was met by St John WA paramedics but in the end they were not required.

It is understood the woman was aged in her 30s and left the airport without issue.

The aircraft was refueled and took off again just after 2pm.

It is expected to land in Ho Chi Minh City about 8.30pm.

The airline has been contacted for comment.
