The Ningaloo Centre is set to increase its solar energy capabilities to help reduce the Shire of Exmouth’s ongoing annual expenditures and lower its ecological footprint.

The $1.16 million solar energy upgrade at the Ningaloo Centre will see more solar panels installed by Perth-based contractor Balance Utility Solutions.

Once the upgrade is complete, it is anticipated more than 60 per cent of the Ningaloo Centre’s annual energy consumption will be supplied by solar compared with the current system that accounts for 9 per cent of energy requirements. Shire of Exmouth commercial and community executive director Matthew Bird said the upgrades would have an annual operational saving of about $168,580.

“This decreases our ongoing annual expenditures and lowers our ecological footprint significantly,” he said.
