City of Karratha begins search for this year’s Cossack artist-in-residence
The City of Karratha has begun its search for the next Cossack artist-in-residence, calling for artists from across Australia to immerse themselves in the historic charm of the ghost town.
The artist-in-residence program offers creatives an unparalleled chance to delve into their craft amid the picturesque backdrop of Cossack.
With accommodation provided by the City of Karratha, along with financial assistance covering the artist’s fee, travel expenses, art supplies and living costs, the residency aims to facilitate an environment conducive to artistic exploration and growth.
Karratha mayor Daniel Scott expressed enthusiasm for the program, highlighting its significance in nurturing local talent and fostering a vibrant arts community.
“The program provides our emerging artists with the opportunity to learn from renowned creatives and improve their creative processes,” he said.
The residency promises a transformative experience in Cossack’s historic setting, offering an abundance of inspiration and creative stimuli.
Mayor Scott encouraged artists nationwide to seize this opportunity, envisioning the lasting impact it would have on their artistic journey.
Applications can be accessed through the artist-in-residence application pack on the City of Karratha website.
The deadline for applications is 5pm Thursday, February 29.
