Crane driver seriously injured in highway crash
A man has been seriously injured when the articulated crane he was driving rolled on a major Pilbara highway today.
Police say the crash happened on North West Coastal Highway, about 12 kilometres south of Roebourne.
The 41-year-old driver had to be cut from the cabin by firefighters before being taken to Karratha Hospital in a critical condition.
Emergency services including police, St John paramedics and firefighters were sent to the crash.
Sergeant Jerry Samoa, from Roebourne police, said the crane driver was conscious when paramedics arrived.
The road remained blocked this evening and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
Karratha traffic police are investigating the cause of the crash.
