Dominant Karratha Kats win big in round five of WPCA

The Dampier Taverners 2 played the Karratha Kats at the Leisureplex with the Kats winning the toss and batting first on last Saturday.

The Kats lost two early wickets but Ely Anderson (21) and Shane Edwards (42) steadied the innings.

Josh Harper (31) and Troy Webster (63no) steered the Kats to a total of 9-213 off their 40 overs with Casey Moy, Matt Watss, Kade Rowe and Dylan Daley all taking two wickets.

The Dampier Taverners’ chase never got going with some tight bowling from Ely Anderson 4-26 and Josh Harper 3-18 doing all the damage for the Kats.

A late 29 from Dylan Daley and 23 from David Gunson added some respectability to the scorecard as the Taverners were bowled out for 101.

The Wickham Wallabies hosted the Pegs Creek Crabs 1 with the away team winning the toss and batting first. A couple of quick wickets put the Wallabies on top but 20 from Jordan Perkusich steadied the Crabs before the Wallabies got a few more wickets.

Matthew Smith was the steady hand for the Crabs, batting for most of the innings on his way to 70 as the Crabs were bowled out for 169 with Mitch Crosby picking up 3-12 for the Wallabies.

The Wallabies struggled to score early before Steve Yalden made a quick-fire 17 to get the innings moving.

This was followed by 57 from Jason Mallon but he received little support as the Wallabies were bowled out for 126. Aaron Faneco took 3-25.

Rec Club hosted Dampier Taverners 1 with Rec Club batting first.

Matt Michael made a quick 24 to get Rec Club’s innings rolling before the Taverners fired back with three quick wickets.

Taverners dismissed Rec Club for 126 with Mark Saunders and Craig Leknys each taking two wickets.

Rec Club started well with the ball reducing the Taverners to 7-51 and looking for the win before Brad Goes (39no) and Jaxon Gordon (31no) put on a 76-run partnership to see the Taverners home.

Pegs Creek 2 opted to bat first against the Nickol Hawk. Oliver Kot (54) and Simon Kot (43) took the team to 7-155 from their 40 overs, with Muhammad Uzair and Syed Ali picking up two wickets each.

Nickol Hawks batted positively with Muhammad Uzair (82no) scoring regular boundaries with the support of Mudassar Tanzeem (41) to finish the game in the 27th over for an eight-wicket win.
