Applications are open for Fortescue Metals Group’s Community Support Program which provides grants up to $5000 to support local groups, initiatives and programs.

Fortescue has invited not-for-profit, sporting and recreation and community organisations within City of Karratha, Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Ashburton and Shire of East Pilbara to apply.

In the last round of grants, not-for-profit organisations Fair Game and Roebourne Police and Community Youth Centre received funding.

Fair Game chief executive Nicki Bardwell said the financial support provided local volunteers with skills to help children stay fit and healthy.

Roebourne PCYC used their grant money to start hosting weekend basketball sessions for local youth.

Applications close on September 30.
