JetGo’s demise confirmed as liquidator appointed

The charter company behind proposed Brisbane and Singapore flights from Karratha has collapsed.

Jirsch Sutherland liquidator Sule Arnatovic was appointed to the Brisbane-based JetGo following a Supreme Court ruling on Thursday morning.

The company was due to start running Karratha to Brisbane flights next month, and was hopeful of starting up a Singapore leg from Karratha soon after.

The City of Karratha, which paid about $850,000 sponsorship into getting the service started, registered as a creditor in June and put upgrades to the Karratha Airport to accommodate an international service on hold.

When asked in June, City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the agreement with JetGo indicated all payments would be refunded if the service did not proceed.

JetGo came on board after SilkAir, the only commercial airline to show interest in a Singapore flight, rescinded that interest last year.

Administrators have already sold a range of JetGo’s equipment—from office furniture to aircraft servicing tools—through Grays Online Auctions.
