The Karratha Country Club and Bowling Club are set for a revamp after council endorsed the decision to progress the implementation of the Searipple Land Precinct Masterplan.

The master plan would involve the creation of a new clubhouse, relocation of the indoor cricket facility, a new carpark and sealing of the access road, among other ideas.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the Country Club and Bowling Club were important recreational assets with potential for future development.

“Council has adopted and remains committed to progressing the long-term vision of the Searipple Land Precinct Masterplan, which will see the development of a shared clubhouse for visitors and users,” he said.

Councillors will continue to engage with both of the clubs and the community over the course of 2019 to develop a plan for implementation that works best for all involved.

Part of the decision approved by council also included allowance for the bowling club to temporarily update their facilities.

“Council has granted in principle approval to the Karratha Bowling Club to install a temporary clubhouse facility to service members until the shared clubhouse facility is complete,” Cr Long said.
