Two players from the Karratha Jets women’s football team showcased their skills to spectators from across the State this month when they played in an inaugural women’s exhibition match at a major WA country football tournament.

Jessica Creighton and Anna Beroa were among a squad of female football players from across country WA, named the Regional Allstars, who went head-to-head with the South West women’s side in an exhibition game at the Landmark Country Football Championships from July 5-8.

WA Football Commission female development co-ordinator Biana Whife said the match, which followed the colts grand final, provided female football players from regional WA with an exciting opportunity to perform in front of a “massive” country football crowd.

“Some of those girls don’t have as much of an opportunity to do that as girls have in the metropolitan area, so any chance we can give them to show their football skills and give them an opportunity to do that, we will,” she said.

The Allstars went down 84-8 to their opponents, but Whife said they had put in a strong effort, gelling together in the last quarter to stop South West goals and showing good fundamental football skills.
