Lapping up the action
More than 40 karting enthusiasts from across the North West competed in round three of the Northern Zone Series this month.
The event was hosted by Impala Kart Club in Tom Price and had 41 riders take part, with three also travelling from Geraldton to compete as well as new members racing for the first time.
In the pro-cadet class, Max Duncombe came out on top with a fine margin of 20 points over William Campbell followed by Dusty Fowler in third place.
In another tightly contested class, Dale May stood atop the podium in TaG125 Combined.
Riley Smith took first spot again and now has a 1098 point lead going into the final round, while Brent Barton and Glenn McDougall swapped places on the podium this round and will be contesting each other hard when they meet again in the Heavy Class.
The KA3 Junior competitors took it to each throughout the day in a tightly contested field.
Donny Davis and Annabel Bishopp, both from Karratha Kart Club, had a close encounter in the fourth heat resulting in Donny not completing the race.
He managed to repair the kart in time to get back out for the final, finishing the meet in second place behind Lincoln Drew. Billy Duncombe finished third.
The North West Light drivers battled it out in the largest field with Brandon Duncombe finishing first, Eli Tunstall placing second followed by Tyler Smith.
When you’re hot you’re hot and that was the case for Riley Watkins in KA4 Junior Combined who had a clean sweep, winning all five races for the day.
