Learn about gut health at special seminar
Community members are invited to attend a gut health seminar presented by the Karratha Science Engagement Network.
On Saturday, August 26 from 9am at the Karratha Leisureplex, guests will be able to sample foods to benefit their gut health and learn about a range of gut-related topics from local specialists nutritionist April Butt and pharmacist Gareth Galloway. Mr Galloway said he had seen a strong demand for more information about gut health from the community in his job at Pharmacy Help Karratha.
“We have a young population in Karratha and they’re becoming more educated about their own health, so I think the demand from the community to know more about what’s happening inside their own body and how to take hold of their own health is rapidly increasing,” he said.
“There’s a huge amount coming out (about) the link between gut health and mental health, so that’s at the forefront of medicine and I think people are really driven to find out about it because it’s getting a lot of coverage.”
Mr Galloway and Ms Butt will present a series of educational lectures throughout the day.
“It’s going to be informative and fun and it will cover a wide range of topics from how it influences pregnancy and childbirth and the early years to how it influences the disease process in the body, how it affects people’s mental health or the influence of mental health,” Mr Galloway said.
Guests will also be treated to a healthy morning tea by Empire6714.
Tickets are on sale now for $90-$160 from eventbrite.com.au.
