NSBC Warriors defeat Roebourne Magpies by nine points in Karratha Basketball Association round 10 clash

The Northern Spirit Warriors and Trouts held firm to their spots at the top of the men’s and women’s ladders after a big night of division one clashes at Karratha Leisureplex.

NSBC Warriors faced off against the Roebourne Magpies in round 10 of the Karratha Basketball Association’s division one summer competition on Thursday.

But NSBC Warriors proved too strong for the fifth-placed Magpies, coming away with a 38-29 victory.

Roebourne Magpies’ Kerwin Snook gave it his all as the night’s top scorer, clocking in with 14 points.

NSBC Warriors’ Jonathan Wilson followed with 10 points and Joel Lekias chipped in eight points to push their team over the line.

Later that night Karratha Kats smashed Flames Black 40-23, with the Kats’ Charlie Fountain leading the pack with 17 points.

In a major upset on Friday night, Storms Grey beat the Trouts 39-18 with a 13-point effort from game top scorer, Trouts’ Chris McAllister.

In the final game of the round, Pardoo Katz beat Mayuga 55-25.

The first women’s division one game of Thursday night was a nail-biter, with the NSBC Lynx close to beating the ladder-leading Trouts.

Trouts finished strong to earn a 21-19 victory. NSBC Lynx’s Liz Bradshaw top-scored with eight points, followed by Trouts’ Ava Fountain with 6.

On Friday, Flames Black toppled the Cyclones (U18) women 36-23.

Flame’s Mia Granthom starred with 16 points, followed by Cyclones’ Ava Fountain who beat her Thursday night score with nine points.
