Tech helps Karratha kids learn language

Two of Karratha’s primary schools are proving that distance is not a deterrent when it comes to education.

St Paul’s and Baynton West Primary schools have embraced technology to allow their students to learn Chinese language and culture with a live teacher in Beijing.

The program, named My Chinese Teacher, is an online platform connecting students to teachers in China.

My Chinese Teacher co-founder Tom Shugg said it made sense to learn Chinese given China was WA’s largest trading partner.

“Why wouldn’t we want our kids to learn about such a significant geographical neighbour,” he said.
