Three community organisations receive grants from Karratha City Shopping Centre to deliver essential programs

A fundraiser, a mural and an activity space. These three projects have all received funding from Vicinity Centres, the parent company of Karratha City Shopping Centre. Reach Us (Pilbara Inc), Headspace (Anglicare) and Empowering People in Communities Inc each received grants of up to $5000. Reach Us used its grant for its annual Colours of Cancer High Tea fundraiser, which raises money to provide ancillary support for residents with cancer. Headspace will use its grant on its community wellbeing mural program, which will install a mural on Karratha City Shopping Centre’s exterior wall. EPIC’s grant will go to its inclusive outdoor activity space, which will provide a range of playground equipment that people in wheelchairs can use. Shopping centre manager Melanie Tan-Garbin said the grants would help the organisations deliver quality programs to the community. “The Vicinity community grants program has been a huge success and is just one of the ways in which Karratha City Shopping Centre makes a positive impact in our great city,” she said. The community grants were part of a larger $50,000 pool of funding that covered four local government areas. The grants were for programs focused on youth engagement and underemployment, environmental rejuvenation, education, and community wellbeing.
