Newman pub and Tom Price supermarket among new COVID-19 exposure sites

The Pilbara has recorded two new exposure sites after a Tom Price supermarket and a Newman pub added to the growing list of COVID-19 exposure sites.

Newman’s Capricorn Bar and Grill was added as an exposure site on February 16, with people who visited the venue on February 11 between 7.30pm and 9.00pm told to monitor for symptoms unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health.

Meanwhile, the Coles supermarket in Tom Price was also added as an exposure site with visitors on February 8 between 4.00pm and 4.30pm and February 13 between 10:30am to 12:00pm told to monitor for symptoms.

The state recorded 115 local cases of COVID-19 overnight.

It comes after Tom Price’s Guardian Pharmacy was added as a COVID-19 exposure site, with people who visited the venue on February 9 between 12.00pm and 12.30pm told to monitor for symptoms unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health.

The town’s Mitre 10 store was also added as an exposure site, with people who visited the site on February 12 between 9.00am and 9.30am also told to monitor for symptoms.

Rio Tinto confirmed on February 15, a residential worker at its Tom Price site had tested positive for the virus and was isolating at home along with two close contacts.

The East Pilbara and West Pilbara are the two least vaccinated regions in the state as of February 14 with 61.4 per cent and 58.7 per cent respectively of the population above 12 years of age double dosed.
