Paraburdoo’s Peter Sutherland Oval will be in a sea of colour this Friday from 5pm for the annual Para Colour Fun Run.

Community members are invited to participated in a 3km or 1km walk or run, colour smash and novelty and children’s activities or just bring a picnic blanket to watch all the action.

Para Colour Fun Run committee president Darryl Gnezdiloff said this year’s event was set to be bigger and better than ever.

“We’ll have more colour throwers, an expanded novelty events program and we have also increased the number of place-getter prizes available for those doing the 1km and 3km runs,” he said.

“The Paraburdoo Emergency Services team have also just purchased a brand new, huge blow-up fire-truck slide that both adults and children can have fun on.

“It’s one of the tallest and largest slides permanently located in the Pilbara and will be officially launched at our event.”

All proceeds from the fun run will be donated to the Paraburdoo Primary School P&C, Ashburton Little Athletics Club, Karingal Neighbourhood Centre, Paraburdoo Motorcycle Club and St John Ambulance.

Mr Gnezdiloff hopes to raise more than $4000 for the five community groups.

“The run is an event that promotes healthy and active lifestyles, whilst fundraising for local community groups,” he said.

“It’s an event that embodies a positive spirit, can-do attitude and wanting to make a real difference to help others in our community.”

Organisers have also brought back the Paraburdoo Gift to determine the town’s fastest male and female athletes.

The 200m sprint will take place at the start of the night with the winner taking home $200 in cash.

Punters can also dress up and go in the running to win best dressed individual or team.

“We’re expecting the event to be another huge and very full night of fun for the whole family,” Mr Gnezdiloff said.

“The Para Colour Fun Run has become one of the most anticipated events on the Paraburdoo calendar, and is now the largest and most successful community-run event in the town.”

Online registrations have closed but participants can sign up on the night at the oval from 5pm-6pm.
