WA Health to monitor ongoing COVID situation in Roebourne as confirmed cases emerge at Roebourne high school

A WA Health spokesperson says they are aware of an ongoing COVID-19 situation in Roebourne and is working with the WA Country Health Service and the Department of Education. “As of 8pm last night, further cases had been reported in the Pilbara region,” they said. “Like across the rest of the State, we expect case numbers in the Pilbara will continue to rise and that’s why people must get tested if they feel unwell with symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and follow health advice including physically distancing and mask rules. “This is also a good time to remind people to get vaccinated or to complete their full vaccination course, including their third dose.” The Department of Education has confirmed there are active cases at Roebourne District High School. According to Ngaarda Media, a text message was sent to parents over the weekend confirming positive cases in years 1/2, 5/6, 8/9/10 and 10/11/12. WA has reported 2847 new COVID cases on Tuesday — a new record high — as the number of people in hospital also rose to 48. 33 new cases was reported in the Pilbara, bringing the total active cases in the region to 135.
