Angie hits the airwaves
Angie Ayers will bring her passion for the Pilbara to the airwaves next month on a new drive show on Spirit Radio Karratha 1260.
Angie on the Airwaves premieres on August 10 and will broadcast weekdays between 3-6pm.
She said the show would bring together her love of music, travel and nature and interest in aboriginal culture.
“There’s going to be doing a segment called When the World Was Soft with Ngarluma man Clinton Walker, who will provide a forum where listeners can ask questions about Aboriginal culture in the Pilbara,” she said.
“I am keen to talk about natural highlights of the Pilbara, talking about what’s happening in our skies, what animals we can see around the region and what fish are in season.
“I am also going to be running a fun engaging, segment on a Friday arvo called Afternoon delight, where people will have the chance to spread the love and nominate someone they know who needs a bit of a pick me up.”
As the only female announcer in the network, Angie said she hoped to bring a new perspective to the airwaves.
“I want to create a show that’s uplifting, people will engage with and take away something different every day,” she said.
“There’s definitely going to be a bit of humour involved, I’m pretty sure my inner dag is going to come out on air a lot.
“I think it will be a great complement to Pablo’s breakfast show.”
After living Karratha for more than three years, Angie said she hoped her show would reflect her passion for the region.
“My story isn’t unique to the region- like a lot of people I got here by accident and have ended up loving the weather, the lifestyle and have found myself a great niche in the community,” she said.
“I love living here because we get all the benefits of living in the country but with really city minded people who want change and new opportunities.
“We’re not a sleepy little country town, Karratha has got a lot going on and I want a show that reflects that.”
