Nose hairs were trimmed, cheeks were shaven and the general appearance of Hedland men was tidied up last weekend in preparation for Movember.

With a pretty impressive title to defend, the Town of Port Hedland’s chief executive Mal Osborne has this year combined with “mo bros”, executive staff Sid Jain and Chris Linnell, to grow funds and facial hair for men’s health.

The hairy hero last year raised more than $3500 alone for the cause.

As well as enjoying being recognised by Movember officials for his efforts, he savoured the success of the Town’s team, which came sixth in the country for most money raised by a government sector group. Mr Osborne said he was looking forward to defending his title together with the executive team and raising funds to improve men’s health.

Global charity Movember Foundation has been running Movember events since 2003 in a bid to help men live happier, healthier and longer lives.

It has since raised more than $680 million worldwide and funded more than 1000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

The North West Telegraph looks forward to bringing you weekly updates from each of the men throughout November.
