Two young Karratha softballers are off to Jakarta to take on teams from South East Asia as part of the Perth All Stars squad.

Courtney, 14, and Georgina Bushby, 15, were selected for the team after impressing at trials in Port Hedland and Perth.

Georgina said she and her sister were both excited to be recognised for their abilities.

"It was very nerve-racking because I didn't really know what to expect, especially not having any of that up here, but the coach was good, everything seemed to go to plan," she said.

"Up here, we don't have a youth competition so we get to play against women of all ages."

Georgina said the competition would be a good springboard to further her desire to reach State level.

Courtney said it was intimidating heading down to Perth, but the other players helped them feel at home.

She said she also harboured ambitions to one day play softball professionally.

Their father, Matt Bushby, said he was proud of his daughters for showing the city the talent that exists in country sport.

"When you see these guys play against women, then they go and play their own age down there - there's a big difference," he said.

"You don't get much option here. You play with the big boys or you don't play at all.

"I think it's a really big benefit." Bushby said his family would do whatever it took to help the girls on their path to softball success.

The inclusion of the Bushby sisters in the All Stars team is timely given 2015 is the 40th anniversary of softball in the Pilbara, with celebrations already being planned for later this year.
