CCC to live stream public examinations into alleged shire officer misconduct

The Corruption and Crime Commission will hold public examinations into the Shire of Exmouth in a fortnight as part of its investigation into alleged misconduct by some officers.

The examinations will also be the first to be accessible by live streaming, allowing people to view them from computers or mobiles via the CCC website.

CCC officers searched the Shire of Exmouth offices in August this year over the allegations and has since conducted private examinations with a number of witnesses.

Part of of the investigation centres on a major contract for the $30 million Ningaloo Centre project under development by the Shire.

A CCC spokeswoman said the decision to hold public examinations had been made considering the public interest of the Exmouth community, the potential for prejudice and the privacy of individuals involved.

They follow the first public examinations held in regional WA earlier this year, over stealing as a servant charges against the former Shire of Dowerin CEO Dacre Alcock.

The examinations can be changed from public to private by a decision of the Commissioner at any time.

The Exmouth examinations will be held at 10am-4pm on November 8 to 11 at the CCC offices in Perth.
