Bright and sunny conditions prevailed for the St Luke's College annual interhouse athletics carnival on August 14.

The day started with a war cry challenge from each house. After the first event of the day, the 100m hurdles began.

The hurdles race was introduced for the first time this year and was a popular event among the budding Karratha athletes.

Students participated in high jump, long jump, discus, javelin, shot-put, 1500m, 100m, 400m, 800m and relays.

The tug of war events were fun and showed not only physical prowess and challenge but also mental strength and determination as students competed for their houses.

The competition between the houses was fierce and the bright yellow, green, red and blue colours in each event proved a spectacular sight for spectators.

There were 24 records broken on the day in both field and track events.

Harding house were the overall winners of the day, winning the championship points as well as the Leprechaun Cup, which is awarded to the house with the most competitors.

In second place was Maitland House, in third place was Nickol House and in fourth place was Fortescue House.

U16 champions * Shae Camisa and Daniel Cross.

U15 champions * Darcey Collins and Molly Richards.

U14 champions * Angel Beeton and Tesshara Cross.
