The Burrup Mountain Bike Club held its second race of the season on Monday, April 27.

A group of 52 cyclists turned out to race their mountain bikes around a 4.2km circuit.

A number of new riders and supporters attended, many of whom stayed around after the event to socialise and participate in the presentations and random number draw.

The draw is done at each BMBC event and gives each competitor a chance to win one of five $20 vouchers donated by Scott Cycles.

The course started next to the Baynton BMX track and traversed some exciting single track, including the tight, technical section known as "Watch the Rocks", which is appropriately named.

It was a fast track with few opportunities for the cyclists to take their foot off the pedal and limited their chances to overtake the competition.

The club has recently purchased a new timing system, which worked wonders for this race and even streamed the race results live.

Podium finishes were hotly contested in each of the categories.

A special mention to the volunteers who gave their time to help make this event happen, in particular Darren Gordon, Geoff Hongell and Nathan Donald.

The BMBC welcomes riders of all abilities. In 2015, the club will be running a number of exciting events including:

Eight more points races.

The classic "Dr Baynton's 6-hour remedy", on Saturday, June 20.

Various social rides.

A number of "Dirtmasters'" sessions for the younger riders.

Skills clinics on the June 6 and 7.
