Dated streetview bothers residents

Karratha looks somewhat outdated on Google street view, as images have not been updated since March of 2008.

Google street view is a mapping service that takes panoramic images of streets around the world.

The most recent images of Karratha show the Dampier Highway in its most early stages of construction and the sites where Baynton West and the Pelago apartment buildings now stand is a plain of red dirt and shrubs.

One resident shared their thoughts on Facebook saying the City of Karratha should get on Google’s case.

Another said they had seen the Google Street View car sometime in the past couple of years however this claim is unconfirmed.

A spokesman from Google said there are no exact details to share about schedules or timelines as to whether the cars will be coming through soon.

“We’re constantly working to update our Street View imagery to keep our images up-to-date,” he said.
