Emotions were on the line in an at times fiery meeting between indigenous people and government members at the Yule River meeting today.

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman and Child Protection Minister Helen Morton were grilled on the future of remote communities, the committee chosen to represent the Pilbara and Kimberley and myriad other issues surrounding the regional services reform.

Yindjibarndi elder Tootsie Daniels questioned whether or not those chosen fo the regional services reform advisory group were "cultural".

Ms Daniels and many others at the meeting criticised the lack of consultation with elders in making decisions surrounding the future of remote communities.

Mr Redman admitted indigenous people could not be represented to the degree they believed was necessary no matter who sat on the advisory group given the limited numbers.
