Fine conditions for club’s third round

Pilbara News

The Karratha Motocross Club held their third round of competition last Sunday.

Fine weather and a pleasant breeze kept things comfortable for the riders and spectators.

Once again the club had a good roll-up of riders and it did not take very long before they were jostling for the front position.

The young 50cc riders were into it from the second the starting gate dropped and once again put all their effort in to try and gain the front spot.

The competition continued throughout the day with all classes putting on a great display of riding, with close racing seen in most of the classes.

A number of riders made the trip down from Hedland to provide some extra competition for the Karratha riders.

Some outstanding riders for the event were Mitchell Bond on his 50cc – the class he eventually won for the weekend.

Other outstanding rides were Ethan Burmaz on the 125cc junior lites, David Alexander in the 250cc pro lites, and Jake Watling and Sam Perkins in the open category.

Watling won the feature race ahead of David Alexander and Grant Eastwell.

The junior quads and senior quads, in particular, put on a fantastic display of racing and another class worthy of mention was the veterans, who after blasting out of the gates very soon sorted themselves out to come puffing and panting over the finish line.

Aaron Cox, Glen Scott and Greg Christie were the best of the veterans during the round. One of the most exciting categories during the meet was the ladies where

Hannah Lovett backed up her great form in the North West Championships by winning the feature race ahead of Kimberley Putland and Rachael Middlebrook.

Motocross action will continue in Wickham on June 10 when the Wickham, Roebourne and Point Samson Motocross Club continue their club meets.
