Fire and rescue head to Burrup scrub fire

Dampier Fire and Rescue service have responded to a scrub fire on the east side of Withnell bay on the Burrup Peninsula, near the Karratha Gas Plant operated by the North West Shelf project.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the Dampier Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised at 3.08pm to respond to reports of smoke 3km south of the Karratha Gas Plant.

He said they were unaware of the cause of the fire at this stage. More to follow.
