Local businesses joined together earlier this month for the Port Hedland Netball Association’s annual Corporate Cup.

More than 100 players took to the courts at Faye Gladstone Netball Courts, with 10 teams competing in a round-robin event.

It was the DCP Legends who came out on top, beating the Home Hardware Homies 12-9 in a fierce grand final battle for the title.

Netball Association vice-president Lisa Lock said the event was a success.

“The idea of the Corporate Cup is for businesses and local organisations to pull together a team of their workmates or partners and families to have a bit of fun, ” she said.

“It’s always funny when suddenly you’re on the netball court with your boss; it’s good for team building.”

C3 Church served up a sausage sizzle dinner and cold drinks on the night raising funds for the Princess Project, an organisation dedicated to rescuing children from the child sex trafficking trade.

Tom O’Keefe was also on hand to provide his DJ skills while commentating on the event.

Lock thanked sponsors the Pilbara Ports Authority and volunteers who helped out on the night, adding without their efforts community events like the Corporate Cup wouldn’t be possible.
