Flyers on high after win
Pegy Flyers got their first win of the season in last Thursday’s round 11, after a hard-fought, skilful game against the Falcons.
Swift play from both sides in the first half made progress far from easygoing, and the match scoreboard stood at 13-all at half-time.
But the Flyers broke away early in the second and established a 10-point buffer.
They kept up the scoring pace from then on, as the Falcons were unable to close the margin, and were rewarded with a 33-24 win.
Hello Trouts defeated Mud Flaps, 51-17 in the other women’s A-grade game.
In the men’s A fixtures, the Pistons and Trouts School clashed in a match that was intense from the moment the whistle blew.
Trouts led by a handful of points for much of the second half, but held on for long enough to claim a five-point win.
An undermanned #Yogetit side lost a physical game to Coral Trouts, 31-16, in one of the upsets of the night.
In men’s B-grade, the Heat and Flakers faced off in a game that became a nailbiter in the dying minutes, when Flakers came back from behind and within two points of their opponents.
Pelicans and Redbacks played a fast and furious game that saw their score standing even at half-time, before the Pelicans got in front early in the second half and from then on raced their way to a 12-point win.
Meanwhile, Prodigy outran the Schoolers to beat them, 42-34, and Vipers defeated Cardinals, 37-28.
In women’s B matches, the Dribblers worked hard and had a fair amount of play against Goat Trouts, but were let down badly by inaccurate scoring, and Lady Falcons beat out Sinners in a tight game.
