Blanche Bar raised more than $3500 at their fundraising event for victims of the Nepal earthquake earlier this month.
It has been almost a month since the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Kathmandu Valley, claiming more than [|6000] 8000 lives.
Last week, a second deadly 7.3 magnitude quake left a new wave of destruction in its wake.
Blanche manager Lara Ducie said with seven kitchen staff hailing from Nepal, it was a cause close to their heart.
“As a team we all really wanted to support their country in this time of need and it was so good to see the community come down to support the cause,” she said.
“The chefs cooked six different Nepalese dishes for people to enjoy which were really well received.
“In the end we raised over $800 in the raffle and over the course of the entire weekend we raised almost $2800 which we have donated to our chef’s charity of choice the Red Cross.”
Ms Ducie said Blanche Bar hoped to host fundraiser nights more regularly to support local organisations in the community.
